Crude Desalter and Overhead Chloride Management

CREAS are very proud to have co-authored an important article with Hobre Instruments for Petroleum Technology Quarterly, which was published in their Q3 2020 edition, on the subject of real-time crude and unit desalter management in order to control and minimize tower overhead chlorides. An often overlooked part of the refining complex, poor crude oil desalting leads to a raft of issues downstream which can cause corrosion, shorten catalyst life, cause furnace coking in the residue upgrading section, as well as driving up chemical and energy costs.
